CHICCO DI CAFFE History
Seeing an opportunity to invest while others hold back during the time of global economic turmoil, Abraham Rojas made a bold decision to put up Chicco Di Caffe in Davao City. The first branch was formally opened at the junction of Roxas Avenue and Padre Faura St, Davao City on February 28, 2009.
His “lingering fascination” with coffee and their frustration in not being able to find the coffee taste they wanted in Davao City, Cebu and even in Manila, encouraged them to look for the right brew. The search led Abraham, more known as Abe, to the American Barista and Coffee (ABC) School in Portland, Oregon, USA where he learned the fundamentals of opening a specialty coffee business in 2008. Likewise, Abe underwent barista training, latte art and specialty classes that included equipment maintenance, marketing and the trade secrets of making the best coffee. These convinced him more to establish his own coffee shop when he got back to the Philippines, particularly in Davao City.
The name Chicco Di Caffe was adopted from the fact that “Chicco” (pronounced as Kiko) stands for coffee bean in Italian and that the coffee shop uses coffee beans imported from Italy. Chicco sits on a 125-square meters property with spacious parking lot. Its ambiance reflects the coziness of an American home enhanced by Italian artwork. Aside from serving coffee, it provides free use of a computer unit and a WIFI connection for customers who prefer to work while sipping their coffee. Most importantly, a television monitor is set-up to provide customers with coffee information while enjoying a drink of coffee. Information is based on the modules acquired by Abe from the American Barista and Coffee School.

COFFEE PRODUCTS
The products or beverage are considered to be the ‘heart’ of a coffee shop. They also serve as the lifeline and the store’s survival is largely dependent upon them. As the name of our company is derived from an Italian word, so as with the products that it is offering. Chicco di Caffé is a premier coffee shop that offers authentic Italian coffee beverage. The coffee beans that we are using are certified products of Italy. The sauces and other syrups are also imported and are being used by other big coffee shop chains in the world. The company also makes use of state-of-the-art espresso machines (Nuova Simonelli) which is made in Italy. It is also the official espresso machine used by the World Barista Championship Cup. With all these, the customers can definitely be assured of a refined and classy coffee experience.
STORE AMBIANCE
The general motif of Chicco di Caffé is American/Italian-inspired. This is very apparent in all store branches. The company has one interior designer who is solely in-charge of achieving this ambiance. Aside from the comfortable sofa and seats, a computer unit and a wifi connection are also installed for free use of the internet. In recent years, coffee shops have been a very good venue for students and professionals alike who prefer to work and do their tasks outside school or office. An outstanding lighting and top-quality sound system which plays light music are also installed to achieve a cozy atmosphere. And the walls are finely decorated with paintings that portray human emotions. A spot for the children is included at the main branch to pull off a child-friendly environment.
BARISTAS
All our baristas are supervised and trained by a certified Barista Expert who took up his Barista course at The American Barista and Coffee School in Portland, Oregon, USA. The rigid training included the fundamentals of opening a specialty coffee business, latte art, and specialty classes that included equipment maintenance, marketing and the trade secrets of making the best coffee. These learnings that he got from the training were deeply taught and inculcated to the baristas of the coffee shop so that they will be able to provide not only superb customer service but also the best quality of coffee.
