Allegro Beverage Corporation in partnership with Kreios Corporation is happy to announce the Grand Barista Cup 2009 Davao Eliminations, on May 24, 2009, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at ALU-TUCP Building, Padre Faura Street, Davao City. The competition is open to all coffee shop baristas in Davao City with at least a two-year course in college or any technical/vocational school, with basic facility in the English language and currently employed in any existing coffee shops in Davao City. The Davao eliminations is held for the selection of five (5) representatives of the city to the Regional Grand Barista Cup -Mindanao on June 2009 at the Davao Central Bank Convention Center and earn the chance to compete in the National Finals and eventually in the Asian Barista Cup (ABC) in Singapore. Among the objectives of the competition are the following: 1. To promote the growth, excellence and recognition of the Barista Profession; 2. To promote the knowledge and consumption of Da Vinci Gourmet Syrups and Sauces and Caffe MOAK to the consumers through the competition; 3. To enhance the knowledge and expertise of the Baristas in the preparation and serving of Da Vinci Gourmet Syrups and Sauces and specialty coffee using Caffe MOAK through competition; 4. To choose the official Davao representatives to the Barista Championship Regional Finals at the Davao Central Bank Convention Center on June 2009; Being one of the coffee shops operating in the city of Davao and in the hope of strengthening the coffee culture in the city, we are inviting your baristas to join the above-mentioned competition. Make Summer 2009 fun, exciting and educational! Join Chicco Di Caffe’s Summer Lessons! Chicco Di Caffé, located along Roxas Avenue Corner Padre Faura Street, Davao City, in its effort to promote a sophisticated coffee culture in the City of Davao welcomes the summer heat with exciting activities. With the end view of strengthening the tradition of coffee drinking in the city, Chicco Di Caffe brings the SUMMER LESSONS: COFFEE 101 EDUCATION AND COFFEE ART WORKSHOP. The best coffee experience comes with the basic knowledge of what coffee is all about and the creative concoctions varying in multitude that result from it. Coffee drinking is both a science and an art. Hence, it takes a scientist and an artist to appreciate the delightful experience of coffee. It is for this reason that Chicco Di Caffe proudly brings to Davao a worthwhile summer class – back to back – Coffee Education and Coffee Art Workshop. It hopes to provide the coffee connoisseurs and art community in the city an avenue to learn the basics of coffee preparation at the same time an outlet for self-expression through the visual art using coffee beans as a medium. The Coffee 101 Class shall be under the instruction of a barista schooled at the American Barista and Coffee School in Portland, Oregon, USA while the Coffee Art Workshop will be handles by a home-grown artist of Davao City with expertise in coffee as art medium. The Coffee 101 Class is on May 9, 2009, and the Coffee Art Workshop is on May 10, 2009, respectively, 8:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Chicco Di Caffe, Roxas Ave-Padre Faura Street, Davao City. A registration fee of PhP 500 shall be collected for each of the class/workshop to defray the costs for meals, materials, supplies and other incidentals. Be it noted that participants have the choice to join both of or just one of the two classes. Summer Lessons shall be open to young aspiring baristas with special interests in coffee making ranging from original concoctions to blends as well as to upcoming artists who are adventurous enough to explore coffee beans as an art medium. This is intended to those who are at least a high school graduate, male or female and with excellent attitude. Participants may include Students, Out-of-School-Youth, Working Youth, Self- Employed, Young Professionals, Barista Wannabes, Aspiring Coffee Artists, Parents and other individuals who wish to make their summer extra special and worth remembering.
